Zep is a PhD Candidate in the Department of Sociology at UCLA. As a visiting fellow, Zep will conduct research on how economic reforms and economic pressures, including sanctions, have impacted Iran's occupational class structure. He will use data from the Household Expenditure and Income Surveys produced by the Statistical Center of Iran since 1984. This research will draw from Zep's doctoral dissertation, a sociological study of labour relations, politics, and economic development in post-revolutionary Iran. The research will improve our understanding of how social class interacts with economic development, democratisation, and political change in Iran.
